The First Day Jitters (AKA “What Am I Even Doing Here?”)

I’ll never forget my first week on a programming team. Everyone seemed to talk in this secret language full of acronyms, obscure references, and code snippets I’d never seen before. They all seemed to just “get it,” while I was Googling terms under the table, desperately trying to keep up. I felt like an imposter, like I’d somehow snuck in without anyone noticing my lack of knowledge. Every meeting was a gut check, where I braced myself for the moment they’d realize I didn’t belong.

If you’ve been there, I get it. That nagging feeling that you’re a fraud? It’s real, but it’s not the truth. Let me share what helped me.
